Speciality Courses » Wreck Diver
New Zealand has thousands of ships that have been wrecked along our coastline including several that provide spectacular dive sites such as the Rainbow Warrior and the Mikhail Lermontov, Tui, Waikato and more recently the Canterbury.
Diving around shipwrecks presents a number of new opportunities as well as some unique techniques that must be utilised. During your PADI Wreck Diving specialty course you will have the opportunity to complete four dives on a wreck, including an optional dive which involves penetrating the wreck with special lines and equipment.
Wrecks not only hold a mystique about them but also host whole ecosystems which take up every millimetre of the wreck. This really gives the diver the best of all worlds. The explorer - always intrigued in finding and identifying certain parts of the ship and also the naturalist - who enjoys the life the at has made it their home in and on the wreck!
You will complete the following objectives on the Wreck Diver course:
Planning, organisation, procedures, techniques, problems and hazards of wreck diving
The preparation and use of lights, air supplies, special equipment, penetration lines and reels
Limited-visibility diving techniques and emergency procedures
