Being able to navigate effectively in the underwater world not only allows you more control of your dive, it allows for more effective dive planning, use less air and generally increases the enjoyment of your dive by always knowing where you are in relation to the boat or shore (and reducing those loooooong swims back to the boat).

During your PADI Advanced Open Water program you covered basic navigation patterns. These will be expanded on also be covered during your navigation specialty in addition to learning the use of the Nav-Finder which will allow you to make an unlimited number of direction changes during your dive. Natural navigation and compass techniques are also expanded on, along with learning how to effectively map an underwater area. The benefit of learning this is so that you can document your dive sites for future reference to either dive there again or show your friends and buddies the wonders of the site.

Prerequisites:

PADI Open Water Diver or equivalent
12 Years of age or older
Up to date divers medical within the 12 months


Course duration:

Three open water dives
